About Marilyn
Marilyn Dunham is a graduate intern currently pursuing her Master’s degree in Marriage, Couple and Family Counseling at Lamar University. She is passionate about truly getting to know people, understanding their unique perspectives and building genuine connections where clients feel comfortable being themselves.
Experience
Marilyn brings a strong understanding of neurodiversity and unique learning styles. Her background includes working at a specialized school for students with learning differences, where she supported children and adolescents with a range of needs, including dyslexia, ADHD, anxiety and Level 1 autism. This experience has shaped her ability to approach each client with patience and a deep respect for individual differences. She connects easily with children and adolescents, creating a space where they feel safe to open up and express themselves, and hopes to bring that same understanding to individuals across all stages of life.
Approach
Marilyn’s counseling style is relational and collaborative, focused on creating a safe environment where clients can explore challenges, build self-awareness and confidence while working toward meaningful goals. She is committed to providing affirming, culturally responsive care and helping individuals explore how society and culture shape self-image and lived experiences.
She has a particular interest in working with adolescents and young adults as they navigate the challenges of today’s world, and in supporting adolescents and adults on the spectrum.
